Supermarkets stock bread, sweetcorn, luncheon meat, squid, mackerel, muscles and a few other baits besides. Usually they are much cheaper than the tackle shop and I can buy in smaller quantities and if I thought about it I could get it with my weekly shop.
So why do we spend a small fortune in the tackle shop? I end up spending £20 or so. Maggots and worms cant be bought in the supermarket but I buy brown crumb ground bait, flavoured sweetcorn, pork luncheon meat and small spicy sausage. I would of probably got it for less than a fiver but I stand there and pay the tackle shop owner instead. Have I really become that lazy or is it poor preparation and planning? Why do you buy from the tackle shop instead of the local supermarket?
